Arrae Bloat claims to be an herbal digestive support supplement that can “debloat” you in under an hour. That sounds… optimistic. So, let’s take a closer look at the ingredients in Arrae Bloat and see whether the science actually supports that promise—or whether the marketing claim is simply a little too hard to digest.
Ingredients in Arrae Bloat
Ginger
Ginger has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, and unlike many traditional remedies, it does have some solid research behind it. However, its strongest evidence is for nausea and vomiting. When we look specifically at bloating and general digestive discomfort, the evidence becomes much less convincing.
For example, one clinical trial involving people with dyspepsia, or indigestion, found that a single dose of ginger root powder did not reduce abdominal discomfort.
Similarly, a study in people with irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, found that taking ginger for 28 days did not improve symptoms compared with a placebo.
There is some evidence that ginger may be useful in certain digestive diseases. In adults with ulcerative colitis, for example, 12 weeks of ginger powder slightly improved overall disease severity. However, it still did not reduce common digestive symptoms such as gas or bloating.
Overall, ginger does not appear to be particularly effective for general bloating or digestive problems. In fact, taking too much ginger can sometimes cause some of the same symptoms you’re trying to get rid of, including gas, heartburn, and bloating.
Now, that’s probably not a major concern with Arrae Bloat because the dose is relatively low. But that low dose may also be part of the problem. Studies investigating ginger for digestive effects commonly use around 1 to 2 grams per day, while Arrae Bloat provides just 220 milligrams.
Dandelion Root
Dandelion leaf, root, and flower have all been used in traditional medicine for digestive complaints and liver problems. However, traditional use and clinical evidence are not the same thing.
When we move from traditional medicine to modern human clinical trials, there is currently no strong clinical evidence showing that dandelion itself meaningfully improves liver health, digestion, or overall gut function. So while dandelion root has a long history of use, we simply don’t have convincing human evidence showing that it can reliably reduce bloating or improve digestive health.
Lemon Balm
Lemon balm has been studied for a variety of digestive problems, but there is a major catch: researchers usually study it as part of a combination of several ingredients. That makes it difficult to determine how much of any benefit actually comes from lemon balm itself.
For example, some studies involving infants with colic have found that combination products containing lemon balm may reduce crying time.
In adults with IBS, products such as Iberogast, which contains lemon balm alongside several other herbs, have been shown to reduce symptoms including abdominal pain, acid reflux, and nausea.
Another combination product called Carmint, which also contains lemon balm, has been shown to further reduce abdominal pain and discomfort when added to other IBS treatments.
However, these studies tested specific herbal combinations, not lemon balm by itself. They do not prove that lemon balm alone reduces bloating, and they certainly don’t demonstrate that Arrae Bloat will produce the same results.
Peppermint
Peppermint is probably one of the more promising ingredients in Arrae Bloat—at least when we look at certain forms of peppermint. There is legitimate clinical evidence supporting peppermint oil for some digestive problems, particularly IBS, abdominal pain, indigestion, bloating, and gas.
Several clinical trials have found that enteric-coated peppermint oil capsules can reduce symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and gas in people with IBS.
There is also some evidence that peppermint oil combined with caraway oil may modestly reduce abdominal pain associated with indigestion.
However, there is an important difference here: Arrae Bloat does not contain peppermint oil. It contains peppermint leaf extract, and those two ingredients are not necessarily interchangeable.
Peppermint leaves naturally contain a mixture of compounds, including volatile oils, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds. Peppermint oil, on the other hand, is essentially a concentrated source of the plant’s volatile oils. As a result, peppermint oil contains much higher concentrations of compounds such as menthol.
Menthol is thought to be one of the key compounds responsible for many of peppermint’s effects on the digestive tract. It may help relax smooth muscle in the gastrointestinal tract and alter how sensations from the gut are perceived.
So yes, peppermint oil has some fairly convincing evidence for certain digestive symptoms. But that does not automatically mean peppermint leaf extract will produce the same effects. You cannot simply assume that evidence for peppermint oil applies to every form of peppermint.
Bromelain
Bromelain is a group of enzymes found in pineapple stems and fruit. These enzymes can break down proteins, which is why bromelain sometimes appears in digestive enzyme supplements.
However, beyond its ability to break down protein, there is very little good evidence showing that bromelain improves common digestive complaints such as bloating or gas.
In theory, bromelain could make sense if someone’s symptoms were specifically related to difficulty digesting protein. But even then, taking generic bromelain probably would not be my first choice.
A properly formulated digestive enzyme supplement typically contains multiple enzymes designed to break down different components of food, not just protein. It should also clearly measure enzyme activity. Bromelain, for example, is often measured in Gelatin Digesting Units, or GDU. Arrae Bloat does not appear to provide that information.
Without knowing the enzyme activity, it becomes difficult to determine how much functional bromelain you’re actually getting.
Slippery Elm
Slippery elm comes from the inner bark of the slippery elm tree and has traditionally been used for gastrointestinal complaints.
However, we run into the same issue here that we see with several other ingredients in Arrae Bloat: traditional use is not the same as clinical evidence.
Modern human research has not provided strong evidence showing that slippery elm, by itself, improves digestion or reliably reduces bloating. While it has a long history of traditional use, that history does not tell us whether it will consistently work for the digestive symptoms people are dealing with today.
Is Arrae Bloat Effective?
So, is Arrae Bloat likely to live up to its promise of “debloating” you in under an hour? Probably not.

Of all the ingredients in Arrae Bloat, peppermint is probably the most promising. However, the clinical research supporting digestive benefits generally involves enteric-coated peppermint oil, while Arrae Bloat contains a dry peppermint leaf extract.
Those ingredients are not equivalent. You can’t simply say, “Peppermint oil has been shown to help with bloating, therefore this peppermint extract will do the same thing.” That’s not how clinical evidence works.
The formula also contains traditional digestive herbs such as dandelion and slippery elm. These ingredients certainly have a long history of use, but that does not mean they have been shown in human clinical trials to reliably relieve bloating.
There is also the issue of dosage. Traditional herbal preparations often involve using grams of actual plant material to make a tea, infusion, or decoction. Arrae Bloat, on the other hand, packs much smaller amounts of these ingredients into capsules.
Some of the other ingredients may have legitimate uses, but they’re being asked to do something different here. Ginger, for example, has evidence supporting its use for nausea. Bromelain can break down protein. But neither ingredient has convincing evidence showing that it directly treats ordinary bloating or gas.
Dr. Brian’s Verdict
If your goal is simply to deal with occasional bloating or digestive discomfort, I would look at an enteric-coated peppermint oil supplement rather than Arrae Bloat.
The enteric coating is important because it is designed to help the capsule pass through the stomach before releasing the peppermint oil in the intestines, where it is intended to work.
That’s also why I wouldn’t recommend simply swallowing concentrated peppermint oil. Non-enteric-coated peppermint oil can cause heartburn and digestive discomfort in some people, which is obviously not ideal when you’re taking something to improve your digestion.
I would also look for a more refined peppermint oil rather than a raw or minimally processed essential oil.
Peppermint oil naturally contains a compound called pulegone. High exposure to pulegone can be harmful and may have damaging effects on the liver and nervous system. Refining peppermint oil can reduce unwanted compounds such as pulegone, although the quality and processing methods can vary between manufacturers.
For that reason, it’s important to choose a product from a reputable manufacturer.
There is one more important point: make sure the product is specifically formulated and labeled for internal use. A bottle of 100% peppermint essential oil is not automatically safe to swallow simply because it contains peppermint oil. Some essential oils are designed for aromatherapy or skincare and may contain ingredients or additives that are not intended to be consumed.
So, if you’re going down the peppermint route for bloating or digestive discomfort, I would stick with a reputable manufacturer and look specifically for a refined, enteric-coated peppermint oil product that is formulated for oral use.
Overall rating

Rating Arrae Bloat by effectiveness for improving digestion, I’m giving it a D. The evidence for actually reducing bloating is incredibly weak, and the product doesn’t use the form of peppermint that has the strongest clinical evidence behind it.
Rating it by cost, I’m giving it an D. You’re paying quite a bit for a formula that could be replaced by a much cheaper, properly formulated peppermint oil product.
Rating it for safety, I’m giving it a B. The ingredients and doses used are unlikely to be of much cause for concern.
Overall rating, I’m giving a D. I would not recommend it at all.
